Kankakee Valley fell to Fairfield 49-47 in a neutral-site postseason matchup.
The close defeat ended Kankakee Valley’s 2025-26 season. The game was played on Feb. 14 as part of tournament action, with the Kougars trailing at halftime but mounting a strong comeback attempt in the second half according to school information.
Fairfield built a nine-point lead at halftime after outscoring Kankakee Valley by 17 points in the second quarter. The Kougars responded in the third quarter, outscoring Fairfield 12-10 and narrowing the deficit heading into the final period. In the fourth quarter, Kankakee Valley scored 19 points and nearly completed a comeback before falling short by two points in the closing minutes as reported by Kankakee Valley High School.
Olivia Adams led Kankakee Valley with 14 points and 14 rebounds, shooting six-of-ten from two-point range and adding a block defensively. Camry Krueger and Maci Capps each contributed nine points, combining for six three-pointers. Mallorie Rose added nine points on four-of-six shooting, while Jenna Walker scored six points. The team shot eighteen-of-forty-six from the field and nine-of-twenty-nine from beyond the arc. Overall, Kankakee Valley totaled twenty-one rebounds and fifteen assists while applying defensive pressure throughout the second half according to school statistics.
The two-point defeat marked the end of Kankakee Valley’s season. The team was recognized for its resilience and competitive effort during the year as said by school officials.
