Caleb Lindberg and Kankakee Valley battled through competitive stretches, but the Kougars fell to Munster 3-0 in a nonconference boys volleyball matchup.
The match took place April 13 at Munster High School, where the Mustangs secured the win with set scores of 25-21, 25-11, 25-20.
Kankakee Valley showed early fight, keeping the opening set close and trading points before Munster pulled away late. The Kougars continued to compete in the third set as well, tightening the score down the stretch, but were unable to extend the match. Lindberg contributed at the service line with the team’s lone ace, while players like Jase Barrera, Conor Stabnik and Joseph Palmer worked to keep rallies alive throughout the contest.
Despite the loss, Kankakee Valley remained active defensively and showed effort across rotations, attempting to counter Munster’s consistent attack. The Kougars struggled to find offensive rhythm, finishing without a recorded kill as Munster applied pressure with both its front-row play and strong serving.
Munster capitalized with 13 aces and steady offensive production, creating separation in key moments of each set. Kankakee Valley continued to battle through adversity and showed resilience, particularly in the first and third sets, where the margin remained within reach.
The Kougars will look to build on those competitive moments moving forward as they continue conference play.
