Ryker Capellari wrapped up a productive season for the Kankakee Valley wrestling team, gaining valuable varsity experience and advancing through the postseason at the Crown Point Sectional.
Capellari’s performance in the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) state tournament series included both sectional and regional rounds at Crown Point High School. He placed third at the Crown Point Sectional, extending his season into the regional round. Capellari worked through the consolation bracket with several key victories, including a pin over Illiana Christian’s SirKalib Winston and another fall against Wheeler’s Luke Pohlmeyer. His win in the third-place match secured advancement in the state series and highlighted a strong showing against a competitive field. At the Crown Point Regional, Capellari faced Valparaiso’s Luke Reid in the quarterfinal round. Although his postseason run ended there, the appearance marked an important step during the postseason tournament according to Kankakee Valley High School.
In addition to his IHSAA tournament participation, Capellari earned a first-place finish at the Frosh-Soph State tournament at 157 pounds. In that championship match, he secured the title with a pin in 48 seconds over Hanover Central’s Trent Bintz. Throughout the year, Capellari competed against strong competition across Northwest Indiana while representing Kankakee Valley in dual meets and tournaments. He also participated in events such as the Northwest Crossroads Conference Invitational and Lake County Championships, gaining experience against many of the area’s top wrestlers… With the season now complete, Capellari finishes the year with valuable postseason success and momentum to build on as his wrestling career at Kankakee Valley continues according to Kankakee Valley High School.
The results reflect Capellari’s continued development as part of Kankakee Valley’s wrestling program.
