Kankakee Valley boys wrestler Beau Evans earned a sixth-place finish at the Indiana Frosh-Soph North Qualifier at 120 pounds.
The result highlights Evans’ performance in a competitive field and his ability to advance through multiple rounds of the tournament. The event was held Feb. 15 as part of freshman-sophomore competition, according to <a href="https://kvhs.kv.k12.in.us”>the school.
Evans advanced through the championship bracket with three consecutive falls after receiving a first-round bye. He pinned Michael Fortener in 1:41 in the round of 32, followed by a 1:59 fall over Xavier Dever in the round of 16. Evans continued his run with a 3:33 pin against Julian Chavez in the quarterfinals to reach the semifinals. He was defeated in the semifinal round and later dropped matches in both the consolation semifinals and fifth-place bout, finishing the tournament with a record of three wins and three losses. He totaled 17 team points during the event and added three pins to his season total, the school said.
For the 2025-26 season, Evans holds an 18-17 record with twelve pins, two technical falls and two major decisions. His win rate stands at fifty-one percent, reflecting steady growth throughout the year in a competitive weight class. Evans also competed earlier this season in events including the IHSAA Sectional and Regional at Crown Point as well as multiple conference and invitational tournaments. The qualifier performance highlighted his ability to score bonus points and compete deep into tournament brackets as the season progressed, the school said.
Evans’ results contribute to Kankakee Valley’s wrestling program achievements for this season.
