Dani Gidley said stepping into a stronger leadership role is one of her main priorities as Kankakee Valley softball prepares for the season.
Gidley said that leadership has always been important to her and she is working to become more vocal as the team heads into the new season. “Leadership has always been something I’ve enjoyed. Last year I felt like I showed it more by example, but this year I’m trying to take more of a verbal leadership role,” Gidley said, according to Kankakee Valley High School.
With most of last year’s roster returning, Gidley believes the team’s experience together will allow the group to improve more quickly. “We’re bringing back a lot of starters, so just being able to work together again helps us grow even more,” she said, according to Kankakee Valley High School.
After committing to Huntington University, Gidley said she can now focus on enjoying her senior season while competing at a high level. According to Kankakee Valley High School, Gidley said this commitment allows her to concentrate on both performance and enjoyment during her final high school season.
The team looks ahead with an experienced lineup and an emphasis on communication and teamwork as they prepare for upcoming games.
