The Kankakee Valley High School Kougars girls track and field team earned multiple event victories and numerous top-10 finishes at the Maverick HSR invitational.
It was held on March 14 at Purdue-Lambert Fieldhouse.
Kankakee Valley’s top highlight came from sophomore Jenna Walker, who won the 3200-meter run in 11:25.28, leading a deep distance group that also included Faith Terborg and Ainsley Summers, both finishing inside the top 10. Walker later teamed with Terborg, Elyce Gillette, and Reese Van Meter to place third in the distance medley relay. Haylee Hass captured the pole vault title (10′0″).
Additional success came from Leah Hanselman, who contributed another first-place finish, while Addison Koselke and Brooklyn Whitt tied for third in the high jump, Sophie Singleton placed third in the long jump, and Jaslyne Robledo secured third in the pole vault, according to the invitational results.
Sprint and hurdle performances also contributed valuable points, with Sophie Singleton and Avery Myers both finishing inside the top 20 in the 55 meters, while Cheyenne Flatt and McKinley Dresbaugh placed eighth and ninth, respectively, in the 55-meter hurdles. Relay teams produced steady finishes across multiple events, as Myers, Singleton, Gillette, and Gabrielle Diener placed sixth in the 4×200 relay; Dresbaugh, Flatt, Anne Lindberg, and Gwyneth Radin finished ninth in the 4×400 relay; and Grayce Stalbaum, Maddisyn Gray, Scarlet Skowronski, and Radin earned seventh in the 4×800 relay. Kankakee Valley’s field-event depth continued in the throws, where Olivia Adams placed seventh, and Jacqueline Vander Woude finished twelfth in shot put.
The Kougars’ performance at this invitational highlighted their strengths across both individual events and relays.
