Kankakee Valley’s girls track and field team turned in a strong performance at the Hoosier State Relays Finals, highlighted by standout efforts from Haylee Hass and Krista Sytsma against a deep field of competition.
The meet took place March 28, 2026, at the Fall Creek Pavilion at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis on a 200-meter banked track.
Senior pole vaulter Haylee Hass led the way, clearing 10 feet, 9 inches to place sixth while tying her own school record. Her performance earned All-State honors and added another milestone to her career as she competed among the state’s top vaulters.
Junior distance runner Krista Sytsma also delivered a strong showing in the 3200-meter run, finishing eighth with a time of 10:40.55. The mark broke her previous school record by roughly 18 seconds and secured her a place among the state’s top finishers.
Both athletes earned All-State honors and medals, highlighting Kankakee Valley’s presence at the state level. Their performances provided a strong finish to the indoor season as the team prepares to transition into the outdoor schedule.
