Kankakee Valley’s 2026 baseball season came to an end with a 7–0 sectional loss to Lowell on May 27, finishing the year with an 11–17 record.
While the Kougars fell short of a deep postseason run, the spring featured bright spots and individual performances that helped shape the program’s future.
The Kougars showed resilience against quality opponents, earning notable victories over Merrillville (13–4), Glenn (10–6), Momence (20–0), River Forest (10–0), and South Central (12–2), while splitting conference series with both Hobart and Highland. Their ability to rebound after difficult stretches kept them competitive throughout the season.
Several players turned in standout campaigns. Lucas Parker led the team with a .291 batting average, while Will Chestnut posted a .439 on‑base percentage and a 3.54 ERA to contribute both at the plate and on the mound. Rex Wilkins added power with two home runs, and Brady Flick provided speed with 17 stolen bases while finishing the season without a fielding error.
Postseason honors reflected those contributions. Chestnut earned First Team All‑Conference, Parker was named to the Second Team, and Wilkins received an Honorable Mention.
Although the season ended against Lowell, the Kougars’ core production and recognition provide a solid foundation to build on for next spring.
