The Kankakee Valley Kougars put together a gritty performance in their non-conference matchup against Culver Academies on Friday night, ultimately falling 14–3 in a game defined by defense and physical play. Both programs leaned on disciplined tackling and strong line play, which kept scoring limited and momentum swings rare.
Culver’s offense managed to generate just enough separation in the second half, finishing with 14 points. The Eagles, who average around 20 points per game, were held below their usual output thanks to Kankakee Valley’s defensive focus and consistent effort in the trenches. Timely stops by the Kougars kept the game within reach until the final quarter.
Kankakee Valley also showed determination offensively, driving into scoring range and connecting on a field goal to get on the board. Though points were hard to come by, the Kougars’ persistence against a well-prepared Culver defense reflected their ability to battle in close, physical contests.
For Culver, the win improved their record to 2–4 overall, while Kankakee Valley left the field with signs of progress and confidence in their defensive identity moving forward.
