The Kankakee Valley boys’ soccer team faced a challenging start to its postseason on Tuesday night, ultimately losing 4–1 to Hobart in a sectional matchup.
The game was held on October 8 at Kankakee Valley High School in Wheatfield. The Kougars demonstrated energy and resilience against the experienced Brickies squad.
Senior Landon Palfi scored early for Kankakee Valley with a first-half goal, which energized the home crowd as the teams entered halftime tied at 1–1. Despite a strong defensive performance from sophomore goalkeeper Damien Vargas, who made nine saves, Hobart’s offense intensified in the second half to secure their victory.
According to observations throughout the season, the Kougars exhibited growth, determination, and teamwork — qualities that were evident again in Tuesday’s playoff effort. With several underclassmen gaining valuable postseason experience, Kankakee Valley is well-positioned to build on this year’s foundation and return stronger next fall.
