Kankakee Valley boys basketball earned a 51–46 overtime victory over Lowell.
According to reports from the game, Kankakee Valley led 24–13 at halftime. However, Lowell rallied in the second half and briefly took the lead in the final minute of regulation. Matthew Rose scored crucial baskets inside, including a late fourth-quarter field goal that helped push the game into overtime. Luke Ehrhardt contributed significantly by hitting two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter and going 5-for-5 from the free-throw line during overtime to secure the victory.
Van Kooistra opened the extra period with a basket and later added a free throw, while Jaidyn Anderson completed a driving layup during this decisive run. Zack Mikash and Carson Armstrong also made key contributions at the line as Kankakee Valley outscored Lowell 10–5 in overtime.
The Kougars are set to host Hobart on February 5 at 7 p.m. In their last encounter on February 6, Kankakee Valley achieved a 64–58 road victory over Hobart, pulling away late to ensure another conference win.
