0Comments

Kankakee Valley played a clean defensive baseball game and turned a double play, but the Kougars couldn’t overcome Lowell’s four‑run third inning in a 7–0 loss.

Lowell High School hosted the game against Kankakee Valley on May 27.

The Kougars stayed steady through the early frames, backing starter Will Chestnut with error‑free defense and solid positioning. Lowell broke through in the second inning and then seized control in the third, stringing together four runs on a series of well‑timed swings that put KV in an early hole. The Red Devils later added two more runs in the sixth to close out a 12‑hit performance.

KV managed three hits in the loss, with Keaton Wagner delivering the team’s lone extra‑base hit, a double to left. Chestnut and Rex Wilkins each added a single as the Kougars tried to generate offense against Lowell right‑hander Zak Scharnke, who finished with a complete‑game shutout and nine strikeouts.

Chestnut worked four innings in his start, allowing two runs—one earned—on six hits while striking out two and walking three. Owen Uylaki followed for two innings and gave up five runs on six hits with one strikeout and one walk. Brady Flick led the defense with five clean chances.
