Kankakee Valley’s 2025 football season concluded with a 43–6 defeat to Hobart in the Class 4A state playoffs, part of the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Football State Tournament presented by the Indianapolis Colts.
The game was held on October 31 at Kankakee Valley High School in Wheatfield, Indiana. The Kougars ended their season with a record of 2–9, navigating a challenging schedule that included several conference opponents. According to reports, Kankakee Valley secured its two victories in the latter half of the season — a 27–10 win over Highland on October 10 and a 15–6 win over Gary West Side on October 24. Despite early difficulties, the team demonstrated steady improvement on defense and resilience throughout the fall. Offensively, they engaged in multiple close contests, including an overtime loss to Rensselaer Central at the start of the season and a narrow 17–14 defeat against Munster later in the schedule.
Looking ahead, the offseason will offer Kankakee Valley an opportunity to regroup and develop younger players in preparation for the 2026 campaign.
In their final two encounters of the season with Hobart, Kankakee Valley struggled against the Brickies’ physical defense and efficient offense.
