The Kankakee Valley boys basketball team dropped a 69–54 decision to Lighthouse College Prep Academy in a nonconference matchup.
According to the match details, the game took place on January 17 at Lighthouse College Prep Academy, where the Kougars played against the host Lions in front of a substantial audience. Kankakee Valley managed to stay competitive during the first quarter, but Lighthouse began pulling ahead with consistent scoring both inside and from long range. Zack Mikash spearheaded the Kougars’ offense by scoring in every quarter and hitting a three-pointer in the fourth quarter. Luke Ehrhardt contributed points from beyond the arc and at the free-throw line, while Matthew Rose added inside points and capitalized on free throws. Jaidyn Anderson and Carson Armstrong also scored as Kankakee Valley maintained an aggressive approach by attacking the rim and pushing for fast breaks.
Despite their efforts in the second half, Lighthouse sustained control with balanced scoring and timely shooting, extending their lead late in the third quarter and maintaining it through to the end of the game. The Kougars rotated several players and focused on working the ball inside but were unable to narrow the deficit as time ran out.
Looking ahead, Kankakee Valley is set to travel to Highland for a conference matchup scheduled for January 30 with a 7 p.m. tipoff. In their previous encounter, Kankakee Valley secured a 54–33 victory over Highland on January 31 during a home game.
