Kankakee Valley boys wrestling earned a fourth-place team finish at the IHSAA Boys Wrestling Sectional totaling 143 points.
According to the event details, the sectional tournament was held on January 31 at Crown Point High School. Kankakee Valley advanced several wrestlers into both championship and consolation rounds across various weight classes. The Kougars demonstrated competitiveness throughout the day, securing their fourth-place position through consistent scoring in a competitive sectional field.
The team was led by notable podium finishes, with Anthony Versetto placing third in the 285-pound category to anchor the upper weights. Dezimen Griffin also secured a third-place finish at 106 pounds, while Ryker Capellari earned fourth place at 157 pounds, contributing crucial points in the middle weights. Cash Sowder placed fourth at 190 pounds, and Ayden VanWienen finished fourth at 113 pounds to help maintain team momentum.
Additional contributions came from Beau Evans and Hunter Brumley, who both placed fourth in their respective categories of 120 and 126 pounds. Noah Stabnik added a fifth-place finish at 132 pounds, Silas Woodworth placed fifth at 165 pounds, Jake Fitzpatrick finished fifth at 175 pounds, and Conor Stabnik earned sixth place at 150 pounds. Kanen Kawczynski placed sixth at 215 pounds, while Uriah Sessions finished sixth at 138 pounds to complete the team’s scoring efforts.
The next competition for Kankakee Valley will be the IHSAA Regional on February 7 at Crown Point High School, with wrestling scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
