Kankakee Valley High School’s varsity girls soccer team delivered an exciting second-half surge Tuesday, overcoming La Porte 4–2 to claim a confident early-season win. The Kougars displayed attacking prowess and unwavering energy as the match unfolded toward a thrilling conclusion.
Trailing at halftime, KV responded with balance and commitment. Junior forward Ella Ramirez ignited the turnaround with a composed finish from just inside the box. Soon after, midfielder Sofia Martinez collected a pass at the top of the arc and curled home a well-placed strike to level the contest. The Kougars maintained pressure, and freshman Bella Nguyen converted a rebound for a go-ahead goal. Senior captain Lily Harris added further flair with a header off a well-executed corner kick in the closing minutes.
Defensively, KV absorbed pressure and rebounded with poise. Goalkeeper Mia Parker made several sharp saves, including a key stop on a long-range attempt that kept the Kougars in front. The teamwork and resolve shown highlight the growing confidence and chemistry on the pitch.
