Kankakee Valley High School’s varsity girls volleyball team turned in a gritty 2–1 home victory over the Kouts Mustangs and Fillies on Saturday. The win, coming after a tense third set, showcased the team’s resilience and ability to stay focused under pressure.
KV took the first set, capitalizing on strong serving and clean transitions. In the second, Kouts bounced back with consistent attacks, forcing KV onto defense and even leveling the match. Tensions remained high through the final set, but Kankakee Valley’s determination shone through—error-free serves and decisive blocks allowed the Kougars to seize the win.
Team leaders Erin Stewart and Adeline Winters were pivotal. Stewart delivered seven kills, four aces and three digs, while Winters guided offense with ten assists and seven digs. Their leadership energized the court and exemplified the team’s collaborative strength.
The victory moves Kankakee Valley to a balanced 3–3 mark on the season and underscores the energy and composure the squad brings, especially in tight contests.
