The Kankakee Valley girls’ volleyball team demonstrated resilience and skill on Thursday night, overcoming an initial setback to secure a 3–1 victory against Hobart in a home conference match.
The event took place on October 9, 2025, at Kankakee Valley High School in Wheatfield. The atmosphere was charged with excitement from the beginning to the end of the match.
Hobart won the first set with a score of 25–22. However, according to reports, the Kougars quickly countered with a decisive 25–14 win in the second set. Building on this momentum, Kankakee Valley maintained control through the third and fourth sets, winning them 25–17 and 25–20 respectively. Their success was attributed to precise passing and persistent front-row pressure.
Sophomore Avery Diener led the offensive efforts with 23 kills, maintaining efficiency throughout and initiating several scoring runs. Her fellow sophomore Addison Koselke contributed significantly with 16 kills and a .355 hitting percentage. Senior setter Grace Diener facilitated the attack by providing 50 assists. Additionally, senior Aubrey Stowers added nine kills and eleven digs, while senior Ella Przybylski stabilized the back row with thirteen digs and consistent serve receives.
With this victory, Kankakee Valley’s record improves to 15–8 overall and 5–3 in conference play. The team aims to continue their positive trajectory when they host Illiana Christian on October 16, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
