Kankakee Valley erupted for four runs in the fourth inning and rode that offensive surge to a 4–1 sectional win over Lowell.
The Lady Kougars used a mix of power hitting and dominant pitching to take control of the semifinal matchup at Kankakee Valley High School on May 26.
The breakthrough inning began when Julia Mahmet launched a solo home run to left, sparking a rally that quickly turned into the Kougars’ most explosive stretch of the night. Moments later, Jess Beauchamp followed with a towering shot of her own, and Mallorie Rose capped the surge with a third home run in the same inning as KV’s lineup stacked quality swings and seized a 4–0 lead.
Patience Cole and Aubrey Hanger added doubles during the rally, giving the Kougars six total hits and providing all the run support they would need behind Rose’s work in the circle. Rose delivered a complete‑game gem, striking out 11 and allowing no earned runs while holding Lowell to four hits, keeping the Red Devils off the board until a seventh‑inning push produced their lone run.
KV closed out the final outs cleanly to secure the 4–1 victory and advance with momentum built on timely power, disciplined at‑bats, and a dominant pitching performance.
