Kankakee Valley turned in a strong team performance, finishing fourth overall at the Lake County Invitational with multiple top-four placers and consistent scoring across the lineup.
According to the tournament results, Ryker Capellari led the Kougars with a runner-up finish in the 157-pound category, earning 24 team points. Conor Stabnik achieved fourth place at 150 pounds, contributing 22 points. His sibling, Noah Stabnik, also secured a fourth-place finish at 132 pounds with 20 points. Ayden VanWienen and Beau Evans placed fourth in their respective categories of 113 and 120 pounds, scoring 19 and 18 points each.
Additional contributors included Jake Fitzpatrick, who finished fifth at 175 pounds. Tyson Palfi and Hunter Brumley both achieved sixth-place finishes in their categories of 106 and 126 pounds respectively. Triston Wireman also took sixth place at 144 pounds. Despite not reaching the podium, Uriah Sessions (138), Silas Woodworth (165), Cash Sowder (190), and Kanen Kawczynski (215) added valuable points to the team’s total.
Kankakee Valley accumulated a total of 174 points in the team standings. Their depth across various weight classes kept them competitive throughout the day, ultimately securing a fourth-place finish. The Kougars are set to compete next at the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Sectional on Friday, January 31, starting at 8 a.m. at Crown Point High School.
