Kankakee Valley secured a 15-6 victory over Gary West Side on Friday night, advancing in the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) Class 4A sectional tournament.
The game occurred on October 24 at Gary West Side Leadership Academy in Gary, Indiana. After a scoreless first quarter, Kankakee Valley gained momentum with 12 points in the second quarter to take control of the match. The Kougars’ defense remained resilient during crucial moments, allowing only one touchdown and preventing Gary West Side from scoring in the second half. A late fourth-quarter field goal provided additional security as the defense continued to limit significant plays and ensure the win. Strong field position and critical stops helped Kankakee Valley maintain their lead throughout the game.
According to the schedule, Kankakee Valley will host Hobart on October 31 for a playoff matchup at Kankakee Valley High School.
