Kankakee Valley’s 2026 softball season came to an end on May 29, but the Kougars’ campaign featured plenty of individual success and signs of progress.
Battling through a competitive schedule, Kankakee Valley continued to develop throughout the spring and earned several important victories along the way.
The Kougars were led by a productive offense that featured contributions throughout the lineup. Julia Mahmet emerged as one of the team’s top hitters, batting over .400 while consistently reaching base and creating scoring opportunities. Junior Mallorie Rose supplied power, finishing the season with seven home runs, while Patience Cole added speed and defensive versatility with 12 stolen bases.
Kankakee Valley also showed its ability to compete against quality opponents, putting together strong performances during the middle of the season and battling in several close contests. The experience gained against some of northwest Indiana’s top programs helped the Kougars continue to improve as the year progressed.
The May 29 sectional loss to Hanover Central, 7‑2, closed the season, yet groundwork from the softball season offers optimism. Offensive output, young talent, and valuable experience give Kankakee Valley a solid group to build around moving forward.
