Kankakee Valley powered its way to a decisive 15–1 victory over Morgan Township on April 3, showcasing an offense that never let up and a defense that played clean, confident softball from the first pitch.
The result highlights Kankakee Valley’s strong performance as the team prepares for upcoming conference play. The Kougars erupted for eight runs in the second inning, turning a tight early matchup into a runaway. They followed with four more in the third and three in the fourth, finishing the day with 16 hits and zero errors, an ideal blend of pressure at the plate and discipline in the field.
Morgan Township managed just two hits and pushed across its lone run in the third, but the Cherokees struggled to slow Kankakee Valley’s steady rhythm. Every inning featured quality at-bats, and the Kougars’ lineup consistently found ways to extend rallies. Their defensive sharpness only amplified the momentum, keeping Morgan Township from generating any sustained threat.
The win sets up a meaningful matchup on April 24, when Kankakee Valley travels to Hanover Central for a conference game.
The teams split their regular season meetings last year—Hanover edging Kankakee 6–5 in extra innings before the Kougars answered with a 9–1 win—before Hanover took the postseason rematch 6–0 in the Class 3A tournament. This year’s first meeting arrives with plenty of history and a chance for Kankakee Valley to build on a dominant performance.
