The Kankakee Valley boys golf team capped its regular season with history Friday, defeating Hobart 161–199 to finish 15–0 and secure the program’s first undefeated season.
The match took place on May 22 at Hobart High School.
Senior Austin Van Loon led the Kougars and earned medalist honors with a 39, highlighted by a birdie on the par‑3 sixth and an eagle on the par‑5 third. Fellow senior Luke Zander followed with a steady 40, while Drew Jonkman and Owen Lubotina each carded 41 to keep KV firmly in control. Carson Armstrong rounded out the varsity scoring with a 45, giving the Kougars the decisive 161–199 win. Zander also etched his name into the record book, becoming the career leader in nine‑hole average with a 41.2.
The junior varsity squad added to the celebration with a victory of its own, posting a team score of 183. Reese Glaser and Isaac Deardorff paced JV with matching 45s, while Jaidyn Anderson and Brayden Hanewich contributed rounds of 46 and 47. Cole Armstrong added a 49, Jackson Hooker and Ayden Lewis each shot 50, and Sebastian Nuss closed with a 54.
Together, the varsity and JV wins underscored KV’s depth and consistency, as the Kougars headed into postseason play unbeaten.
