Kankakee Valley’s varsity baseball team enters the upcoming season looking to build on a 15-13-1 campaign in 2025, when the Kougars finished 2-10 in Northwest Crossroads Conference play and placed seventh in the league standings.
The season took place during the spring of 2025 in Wheatfield, Indiana, where Kankakee Valley posted a 7-7 record at home, 7-5-1 on the road, and 1-1 at neutral sites.
The Kougars scored 184 runs while allowing 149, showing the ability to produce offensively in key moments. Among the team’s top performances were decisive wins over Calumet Christian (21-2), South Central (19-2), Merrillville (16-8), and Washington Township (9-2). Kankakee Valley also recorded competitive victories against conference opponents Lowell (8-1 and 3-2 in eight innings) and pushed several strong teams to close finishes, including extra-inning losses to Hobart and Munster. The season included a 2-2 tie against Hebron and a postseason victory over Lowell before the Kougars’ run ended with a narrow 10-9 loss to Hanover Central.
With last season providing valuable experience, Kankakee Valley will aim to climb the conference standings and improve consistency this spring. The Kougars are scheduled to open the 2026 season at home against Momence on April 1 at 4:30 p.m.
