The Kankakee Valley High School girls volleyball team prepares for the 2025 season under the leadership of returning head coach Jeff Maier, a steady presence for both the boys’ and girls’ programs at KVHS.
Coming off a 20-12 record last fall, the Kougars bring back a strong core of returners and a competitive spirit that thrived in close matches. Coach Maier has emphasized fine-tuning offensive schemes—particularly quicker set distribution and aggressive serving—while bolstering defensive alignment to withstand high-pressure rallies against top conference rivals.
Preseason practices have featured controlled scrimmages against regional opponents along with high-tempo drills to sharpen passing accuracy, hitting consistency, and on-court communication. Several younger players are pushing for varsity roles, adding depth to a roster already rich with experience.
The early weeks of August will include challenging non-conference matchups designed to test lineup combinations before Northwest Crossroads Conference play begins. These contests will provide an important measure of the team’s progress and chemistry.
With an improved skill set, balanced roster, and Coach Maier’s strategic guidance, the Kougars enter the new campaign aiming to contend for a conference title and make a strong postseason push.
