Rex Wilkins accounted for one of Kankakee Valley’s few offensive bright spots as the Kougars were shut out by Andrean 11-0 in a conference baseball matchup.
The game took place April 14 at Kankakee Valley High School, where Andrean built an early lead and steadily pulled away behind consistent offense and strong pitching.
Kankakee Valley was limited to just two hits across the game, with Wilkins and Camden Murray each recording a hit to lead the lineup. The Kougars struggled to generate sustained offense, finishing with 10 strikeouts and just one walk while leaving three runners on base. Despite putting the ball in play at times, Kankakee Valley was unable to string together hits or apply consistent pressure against Andrean’s defense.
On the mound, J. Fitzpatrick worked 4.2 innings, allowing five runs while keeping the game within reach early. Carlos Cruz followed in relief, throwing 1.1 innings as Andrean extended its lead late in the game. The Kougars allowed eight hits and issued six walks, which contributed to extended innings for the opposing offense.
Defensively, Kankakee Valley committed just one error and showed flashes of solid fielding throughout the game.
Andrean scored in multiple innings, including a six-run second inning, as Kankakee Valley dropped the conference contest.
