Kankakee Valley defeated Illiana Christian 62-55 in non-conference play.
The game was played Feb. 13 at Illiana Christian High School in Dyer. Kankakee Valley led 29-25 at halftime before Illiana Christian responded with a 17-12 third quarter to briefly shift momentum. The Kougars answered in the final period, scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter to regain control and close out the seven-point win, according to Kankakee Valley High School.
Matthew Rose led the Kougars with 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. Luke Ehrhardt added 14 points, including six made free throws. Van Kooistra contributed 10 points and eight rebounds, while Zack Mikash finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Kankakee Valley shot 26-of-49 from the floor and totaled 26 rebounds while recording 12 assists and six steals, according to Kankakee Valley High School.
Up next, Kankakee Valley travels to North Judson-San Pierre on Feb. 26 for a scheduled tip-off at 7 p.m. The last meeting between the two teams came Feb. 28, when Kankakee Valley earned a 50-31 victory over North Judson-San Pierre, according to Kankakee Valley High School.
